I watched the film, Bridget Jones's Diary again last night, which is about a thirty-something year old woman looking for love. Bridget notes her everyday experiences in her diary.
In the final scene, just before she and Darcy finally get together, Darcy discovers her diary. He reads what Bridget has written about him, a lot of it unpleasant, and leaves the house. Bridget goes into a panic as she believes he's taken her opinions personally. Bridget chases Darcy to explain. When they link up she tells him that she didn't mean half the things she wrote in the diary; they were just feelings. Darcy tells her he understands. He shows her a new diary with a lock he's bought her. Darcy hopes she can use it to make a fresh start.
Darcy and Bridget's diary are pretty similar; both accept Bridget just as she is.
How wonderful to be accepted for who you are.
