Going Nowhere Fast

I woke up this morning to discover several inches of snow. Looks pretty, great if you're into snow fighting, skiing or snow boarding, but not so great for walking in.

I decided a few inches of snow wasn't going to keep me indoors. I didn't need to shovel the snow from the front, a lovely man did this and sprinkled salt on the foot path.

Travelling on the bus was a real adventure. For some reason the bus got diverted. One passenger told me she'd been going round for two hours trying to get to the local college. She asked me if I knew where the driver was going. I said I didn't know. I asked the driver and he said he didn't have a clue; he was just following the road round and hoping for the best. After a while, one passenger recognised where we were. She said the driver was going to turn right at the roundabout and get back on the main road. The driver turned left.

"Oi, driver, where are you going? You should have turned right!"

The driver said he didn't know where he was or where he was going. Terrific! The blind leading the blind!

Another bus coming from the opposite direction stopped beside our bus. Our driver asked him which way to go. While they were discussing this, another passenger suggested that we get off and catch the bus on the other side. Great idea. A few of us going in the same direction got off and caught that bus, which took us exactly where we wanted to go.

Just as well it doesn't snow that often in London; everything will come to a standstill. Oh well, at least our little adventure got passengers chatting which is a rarity for Londoners.

But seriously, can one ever get lost?

Of course not. Though it seemed like we were lost, I knew we were on a bus. Right where I was, on that bus, was the solution.

Wherever I am, I AM.
