Deuce, the Perfect Love Match

In the game of tennis, both players start at love i.e. nil point. The first point in the game is 15, then 30, 40 then deuce, which is when both players have 40 points.

Once at deuce, a player must win two consecutive points to take the game.

The word comes from the French phrase "à deux" - meaning 'at two', as in needing two more points.

If Player A wins the next point the score is 'advantage server'.

If Player B wins the point the score is 'advantage receiver'.

If the player at advantage wins the point, they win the game. If she loses it, the score goes back to deuce. Scoring basics: deuce

Yesterday I exchanged emails with an Internet friend. He said I was very lucky to be living in London. He said he loves London. I wrote:

"I'm sure the Love that you feel for London will attract you to it and you will live here. I've always believed whatever you love loves you back. London loves you, X."

My friend said he loved the notion of London loving him. I wrote back:

"London loves X; X loves London. Perfect match."

I believe when you're being your true self, you are in deuce. In deuce, your outer world is in perfect resonance with the love that you are.

Now, the call to know and be the true self goes out every single moment. Some hear the call and follow ITS guidance; some hear the call but expect the true self to fit into their busy schedules; some hear the call and ignore the call; while the majority are too busy to hear the call.

When people reach a point when they find their lives are not working, it is then they get on the spiritual path so they can:

Learn how to love;
Become a better person;
Live a more abundant life;
Get wealthy;
Stay healthy;
Meet their soul mates;
Be free;
Live forever;
Know their true purpose in life;
Get over personal losses;
Find happiness; and so on.

I got on the path because I wanted financial freedom, to know my true purpose, to be a better person, to be healthy, and to be free to be myself in all ways.

Let's examine one preoccupation I had - being healthy.

I was concerned about what I ate. I was worried about calories and whether I was getting the right supplements. I fretted over whether it was right to eat meat or should I become a vegetarian. I was concerned about the kind of water I drank. I fretted about the environment and how it was affecting my health. I soon realised that the world's idea of freedom that I was used to was totally different from true Freedom.

The world's idea of freedom is get first then you can be all that you want to be. The problem with the world's way is that you can have all the material wealth in the world and still be in mental bondage. I'm reminded of the brilliant legal drama on television called Boston Legal, which addresses the insanity of the dream world. In a recent episode called Can't We All Get a Lung?, the lawyers defend Daniel Post, played by Michael J Fox, after he's been arrested for buying a lung. Daniel's motto is "why transplant tomorrow when you can transplant today."

Daniel represents the dream many people have about success, abundance and happiness. While Daniel can afford to get anything he wants including a lung, and he's very magnanimous with his wealth, he isn't really free. Daniel is still in bondage to the beliefs of the world.

The true self's idea of Freedom to simply let Freedom be you, which gives you a new way of seeing and being in the world. As I opened up and let Freedom be me, I was able to see that I was already living in a state of Deuce; Love is everywhere present. There is therefore no need for me to worry because Love is already got it covered. Love is already present in the tap water I was so scared to drink. Love was in the food products I was so concerned about. Love was already sustaining my body anyway, whatever food I ate. That's freedom.

As I see it, the spiritual path is about being the true self. Depending on our beliefs and situations, each of us approach our true self from different starting points i.e. love-15, love-30, love-40, or advantage ego. As you raise your game by letting Love be you, you arrive at deuce, where Self loves you and you love Self. The object of the game is to stay in deuce forever.

The perfect love match is about effortless living; being instead of doing; letting Love be me forever.
