My friend was in the army from 1940-1945 during the second world war. He described what it was like fighting in Normandy. He said that after fighting for his country it seems that it's all been for nothing. He was sad about the state of society. Kids are being murdered. Immigrants are coming in and living on social security that others are paying for. The Labour party that's meant to be the party of the working classes seem to only support rich people. In other words, the country has gone to the dogs.
I couldn't deny his experience because from his perspective, his experiences are very real. All I could do was listen, acknowledge where he was coming from, and wish him the best. Later I received an email from a Portuguese friend who was describing the same feeling of being let down by their government.
My response to my friend's email was:
"Remember who you are X. You are peace and love, nothing can take that from you. When you're being yourself, nothing touches that. Enjoy your weekend do things you love. Love my friend, love."I believe both my friends were talking about feeling a lack of love in their experiences.
Instead of looking to the world for love, realise who you are - Love. Be the Love that you are. Being the Love means loving: love all that you are, love all your experiences, love all. Love will then transform the way you relate to others. Love will let you realise that those people who you appear to have a grudge against are also Love. Love will let you see that you live in a universe of Love that supports you perfectly according to your beliefs.
I love you all.
