Dreams Can Come True, But...

Last night I watched a documentary called Sick in the Sun about expats living in Spain who have had problems getting their medical needs met.

It seems to me these expats have swapped one dream for another. That's the problem with dreams, whether it's a nice dream or a nightmare, it's still a dream.

In one dream, you're a Brit living in the UK and dissatisfied with your lot in life. I know, I'll dream myself in Spain where I can retire and enjoy life in the sun. If you've got lots of dosh, you can afford to have the best medical facilities and live how you want. However, in both dreams you're fast asleep i.e. you're still dreaming you're someone subject to old age, sickness and death. In fact, the reason why you dreamed yourself a new life in Spain in the first place is because you want to retire to Spain. To retire you have to believe there comes a point in your life when you want to rest from work. You also must believe that at your time of life you need to be warm, as the British weather can make one sick and miserable. If you have good medical insurance, this also means you're expecting to get sick.

On the other hand, you could be a lucid dreamer who is very much aware he's in a dream. As a lucid dreamer you can choose the kinds of dreams you want to have. You can dream yourself living in another place without the baggage of aging, sickness and death, unless you consciously want to play that role.

Dreams can come true but I prefer to be very conscious in my dreams, thank you very much.
