Commitment

It's amazing what people will do to get your attention.

On the bus, I sat facing two passengers. There was barely enough legroom to swing a mouse let alone a cat. Opposite me was a young woman with her legs crossed. Though her boots kept rubbing against my trousers she was oblivious to what she was doing. Beside her was another man speaking to his friend beside me. As he spoke he kept pushing his feet forward pushing mine out of the way. After a while I told him to watch his feet. He apologised. When the woman opposite me got off I sat next to the man. He apologised again and said he gets really excited when he's speaking and he wasn't aware of what he was doing. He thanked me for bringing this to his attention.

My new friend asked me where I was born. I said in London. He said he was from Greece but living and working in London. He has two kids in Greece. He asked me where I lived. I told him. He thought from my skin and body build I looked about 22 or 25 max. I told him I was 40. He was amazed. He asked his friend to guess my age and he thought I was 25. (Author's note: It must be all that tissue paper I eat that keeps me looking so young).

He asked me what I did. I told him I was a writer and I share experiences of living as Love, as I see it. He was happy to hear it. He said at least I have the time to focus my all on this and share my experiences, which people need. He said although he would love to have time to think and do what I do, his focus is on supporting his family and giving his kids the best he can. I said we all choose our way. As long as he's happy with his choice then that's fine.

Later I thought about the conversation I had with my friend on the bus. Life is really about making a commitment to yourself. I'm totally committed to being true to myself and that has been my focus. I've been given the space and assistance to do just that. I believe my whole life has been designed for that purpose. This is why I have no desire to have kids.

My friend's way is raising kids and doing all he can to provide for them. That's his commitment and I admire him for that.

I am 100% committed to living life as I know it here and now.
