Beauty

While beauty is difficult to define, you know when you experience it.

So my mother asked me to photocopy a letter she'd handwritten. At the shop, the shopkeeper admired my mother's handwriting. She said it's so beautiful and perfect. I agreed with her. My mother's handwriting is like calligraphy but she doesn't see it that way; she thinks of her writing as shaky. When I gave her the copies I reminded her that she's got the most beautiful handwriting I've ever seen; it looks like one of the fonts on the computer. She said while she was at the post office recently the lady at the counter asked her who had written the address on the envelope because it was beautiful. She even passed the envelope round for her colleagues to admire.

My mother also loves words; she's got an excellent command of the English language. I guess her love of English and words come together to express as the beautiful handwriting people love and admire. Because of my mother's command of English, I don't like her reading my articles because she has a tendency to spot grammatical errors. I tell her to stop focusing on the words; it's the ideas that count. Yeah right!

Another way my mother expresses beauty is in her voice. She's got the most amazing singing voice; I know it's the voice of her real self. I've told her lots of times that she has a gift that needs to be expressed. She says she will like to get her voice trained.

I don't see the point of training what is already perfect, just let Music express through. When I watch people sing I find it interesting to see how they're expressing the music. I can see music as light pouring through the person's crown. When someone is letting the Light in it's pure magic, beauty in motion. Leona Lewis, last year's X-Factor winner had that magic. Her voice was so pure and true. You name it, she can sing it. Most people agreed that she's the best singer they've ever had on that Reality TV show. Not only was she a wonderful singer, she was lovely too. She is beauty in expression. I hope she doesn't get trained out of being true to herself.

Beauty is who we all are. As my mother, beauty expresses as her handwriting, her singing, her cooking, her sense of style and so much more.

In appreciation of beauty.
